About me

I have come to counselling quite late in my career, having previously worked in education for eleven years doing pastoral work with children and families in a large community primary school.

My move into counselling came about for two main reasons. Firstly, having experienced counselling for myself, following a close bereavement and serious illness in my family, I knew how much it had enabled me to cope better with my feelings, and secondly, working with children and young people, I recognized that they also had similar needs and that I could combine my previous work experience with counselling skills to help them find a way of coping with their tricky thoughts, feelings and experiences.

I completed a three year degree in Counselling Children & Young People and qualified in July 2022. Whilst studying I also completed placements working with children and young people in primary and secondary schools. Following completion of my qualification I remained at a local high school working as a paid counsellor. To date I have over 400 hours of counselling experience working with children and young adults aged between 7 and 25.
